  • Session 1: 08:30 to 09:45 : Relevance of CPD including conditions and validation, problems encountered by the professionals and how SAIBD could assist..
  • Session 2: 09:50 to 11:50 : An introduction to the critical standard for fire protection BS7974:2001 as per Annex B of SANS 10400 Part T
  • Session 3: 12:20 to 14:20 : Overview on key policy matters that may lead to the amendment of the built environment professions legislation
  • Session 4: 14:30 to 16:30 : Naturally Ventilated vs Artificially Ventilated Method

Session 1: Why is CPD importantThe roles of SACAP and the Voluntary Associations 

Session 2: This course is a perspective on how all Built Environment Professionals must input into the fire protection strategy of a building. We will look at case studies of failing to use BS7974 places lives at risk and interrupts business, the Architectural Professional’s role and responsibilities according to BS7974 and we will be discussing the myth of a code compliant fire protected building in South Africa. 

Session 3: To inform, empower and equip the built environment profession on the vision of government with respect to transformation and restorative justice

Session 4: To develop the professionals understanding of the different methods of calculating the Fenestration compliance and which method is better suited to meet your client’s needs. These impacts include initial and lifetime costs of the building. It also demonstrates the impact of Architectural massing and form on the overall environmental impact of the building
